Event Report
The Puffers produced an excellent turnout and a strong collective performance at the Reigate MABAC Running League fixture, tackling a demanding multi-terrain course with determination and team spirit.
Leading the Puffers home was David Ebert, who put in an impressive run to finish in the top 10 for the club against a field of 160. Close behind was Will Westlake in second, continuing his consistent form this season. Katy Gibson was the third Puffer home and first female finisher for the club, followed by Paula Holmes in fourth, both delivering strong performances on a challenging course.
Rounding out the top five for the Puffers was Craig, securing another valuable scoring position for the team. Katie Westlake followed in sixth place, maintaining the steady flow of finishers that is so crucial in MABAC scoring.
Don crossed the line in seventh and was quickly followed by Vicki in eighth, both showing great pacing across the varied terrain. Ken took ninth place, with Will Archer-Burton completing the top ten Puffers home.
The strong team depth continued with Martin Rose finishing 11th for the club and Barbara Rossouw 12th, underlining the importance of every runner’s contribution in building the overall team score.
The Puffers’ strength in numbers once again proved key, with runners spread throughout the field and supporting each other from start to finish. The welcoming and inclusive atmosphere of the MABAC League was evident, with both experienced runners and newer members playing their part in the day’s success. A big thank you for the pictured Michael Reilly who also completed one lap on his birthday before jetting off to the other side of the world. We also had Step Lockyear who joined the MABAC for what i think is the 2nd event, unfortunately had to withdraw from the event due to a calf injury on the first lap, we all hope you have a speedy recovery and we see you at a future event very soon.
With another solid result secured, the Pyrford Puffers will look to carry this momentum into the next fixture as they continue their MABAC campaign.
